Car park attendants

Car park attendants can provide information and entrance assistance for people and vehicles at business, leisure, museum, hotel or public car parks, within the agreed scope.

Daily user numbers require clear arrangements and assistance procedures. This support helps operations but does not amount to security guarding or independently guarantee site security.

Depending on the contract and role training, tasks may be assessed such as:

• User assistance at payment points, if expressly agreed.
• Cleaning and preparation tasks defined in the scope.
• Directing vehicles to the appropriate areas. Driving or parking on a customer’s behalf is not assumed included.
• Entrance assistance, separate from security access control.
• Reporting incidents to the manager according to the established procedure.

Training

When hiring a car park attendant, assess training and experience appropriate to the duties. A professional provider should clarify the role, instructions and responsibilities before work starts.

Requirements depend on the assignment. Customer service, language skills and procedural knowledge may be relevant. A driving licence is only required where agreed duties demand it; it does not make the role a security service.
